John Snyder, President, Employee Benefit Brokerage Services

After earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, John started his career in the group insurance field. John's experience working for two large employee benefits carriers prior to becoming an independent benefits broker has prepared him to better serve your needs and negotiate with insurance carriers. His HR Outsourcing experience through Fidelity Investments rounded out his background and fueled the vision and service model offered by HCR Group

Career highlights

  • Began his career in sales with employee benefits industry leader UNUMProvident in New York City.
  • Continued with his sales career at Sun Life Financial in Boston.
  • Became VP Sales with HR Logic, a Fidelity Investments-owned HR outsourcing company.
  • During a four-year period, he was an instrumental part of the team that helped grow the company from $1,000,000 to $50,000,000 in sales.

Since founding HCR Group in 2002, John has spearheaded the Employee Benefit Brokerage division.

Associations

John is an active member of the National Health Underwriters where he works closely with other industry leaders to stay on the front lines of news and information. He has completed the Steinberg leadership program for the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) and is involved with outreach programs within the community.

Interests

When John isn't working, you can find him hiking, biking, on the golf course, strolling around Boston, or visiting with family in Cape Cod and New Hampshire.


Lauren Brenner, SPHR - President, HR Services

Lauren is a highly-experienced HR Generalist and Consultant who brings to clients more than 25 years of experience. Her accomplishments include:

  • Creating and redesigning HR Departments to assist the business operations of companies.
  • Advancing retail, manufacturing, health care, and educational organizations in for-profit and non-profit environments.
  • Using her interpersonal skills to enable people and organizations to grow and develop, thereby meeting their business needs and personal goals.
  • Developing and implementing programs in the areas of Employee and Supervisory/ Management training, innovative recruitment, employee relations and retention, safety/worker's compensation, employment law and compliance, training and development, compensation and benefits, and HRIS.

After receiving a Bachelor of Science Degree in Labor Relations and Personnel Management from SUNY/Brockport and prior to joining the HCR Group, Lauren spearheaded the HR Department for leading furniture & automotive retailers and a printing manufacturer in New England. They include Jordan's Furniture, Boch Automotive, and Quebecor World RPC.

Lauren's efforts contributed to Jordan's Furniture receiving the NEHRA (New England Human Resources Association) John Erdlen 5 Star Award for Excellence.

Angela Hutchins, Director, Operations/Client Services

Since joining the HCR team in 2004, Angela has been critical to the success of the company by

  • Implementing several strategic improvements
  • Overseeing Finance and IT
  • Heading up the Client Services group

Education and career highlights

Angela graduated from Boston College with a Bachelor of Science in Communications. In her prior position at Responsible Media, Angela was the Office Manager with the following responsibilities: Supporting the IT department, managing finances, preparing sales presentations, and providing customer service.

Community involvement

Raising money for Cystic Fibrosis research has been a "calling" for Angela.

Angela is a gourmet cook and seasoned interior decorator. She enjoys skiing and golfing.
